Lawyer didn't show to the 341 meeting

By the way our lawyer didn't show to the 341 meeting. Some guy who I never seen came to represent us and several other people in his absence. All he said was, "I am _____ for attorney ____, I have no questions or comments". What's up with that? We already paid $700 out of the almost $1000 we owed him. I'm pretty p---off. They never called from the office today to even appologize. Should I pay him?

Actually, that is not uncommon. Your lawyer doesn't really do anything at the 341 and its not uncommon to have "appearance" counsel attend the 341 which is a different person than the lawyer you work with. Yes, you should pay your attorney, technically, someone was there to attend the 341.

Are you sure the attorney who showed up was representing you, its odd for them to say "I have no questions or comments" if they represent you, its usually the US attorney or a creditor that would say something like that.

I'm absolutely sure he was the "lawyer", the creditors set on the opposite side of the table. He also represented a bunch of other people that our attorney didn't come to represent.

Sounds like this guy is used by several firms to attend the 341 creditors meeting. I would think your attorney should have at least mentioned it to you, but its nothing to get to upset about.
