After spending hours and way too much money yesterday, I have come up with a solution. I'm sick of trying to find 36H bras and spending a fortune on them. Why must I be penalized for the genitics my parents passed on? Anyway, how about I donate half of my problem to brokemommy and then both of us would be happy?

Me too!! Me too!!
Seriously tho, Krobin, you can have breast reduction surgery and have it covered by insurance. Except, of course, your normal copays and out of pocket expenses you'd have with any other surgical proceedure.
I have 2 cousins that inherited the family gene pool for boobs. Both started having problems with their backs just from the weight of their boobs. One was in her early to mid 40's when she had her breast reduction surgery. The other was in her late 20's, early 30's.
Maybe check into that with your doctors as an option. See how much you'd be out of pocket to have the surgery done. Most insurers will cover the surgery if it's medically necessary to stop or prevent back problems.

You guys crack me up!!! Boobs and ethics, what a combination--ROFL!!
Seriously, I DID have "bilateral reduction mammoplasty" several years ago for neck and back problems. My insurance company approved it and I was pleased with the results.
While I do believe that self-esteem and self-care is important, we have to work within our means! I personally would love to have plastic surgery as age, gravity, genetics, and child-bearing have done me no favors, but I guess I'll have to deal with it the old-fashioned way--EXERCISE AND DIET (perish the thought!)
Man, am I rambling or what today
I can't imagine being an old lady with a sagging tatoo--UGH!!
I know a family where 2 of 3 sisters had the reduction since they were having terrible neck problems. And, it was covered by insurance--no questions asked. (Triple FFFs I think?)
Boobs and ethics--you talking about Bush again?! LOL

Interesting about insurance paying for reduction. I am covered under Blue Cross and they refuse to pay for it. I am also covered under DH's Blue Shield plan, and they will pay 80% for the procedure...but....(always a but, right?)...there is a minimal amount of tissue that has to be removed before they will pay for the surgery. I'm using cc's here since I don't know what the doctor uses to quantify the amount needed to be removed....if I only need 300 ccs to be removed, and insurance says you need at least 700 ccs to be removed, they won't pay for it.
Genetics be damned! Right now myself and my oldest daughter need reduction surgery. My youngest daughter may be traveling down the same path! Gah! I wonder how much is heredity and how much is environmental, you know... growth hormones in cow's milk, meat, etc.
What really pisses me off is that Broke Momma wants to pay 6 K for enlargements, and I would have to pay 35 K for reduction. I'm not knocking reconstructive surgery, but I would gladly give UP the back pains, neck pains, ill-fitting bras and tops, etc for *much* smaller boobs!

It not only depends upon the insurance company but the plan you have with them.
My current insurance will not cover bariatric surgery (gastric bypass) even if you are grossly overweight with additional medical problems (high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes). The same insurance company under a different employer would have covered it just by being a certain number of pounds overweight and not having to have an associated medical condition.

My insurance won't pay for it either. They consider it "cosmetic" even though we all know it's not!
My doctor suggested it for me and said that he'd write it up as a medical necessity (overweight, reduced activity due to spinal injury, thyroid problems, and HBP) so the insurance would have to pay for it. No Way! The insurance still refused to pay--it specifically states in the policy no gastric bypass for any reason.

Nice post bkfiler, thanks for a little confidence. I think in appreciation of all the great people who have stood up for me, I am going to throw a picture up of the sliders, edited pg of course with a little photoshop covering up the nipples. That way all the advocates or hipocritics can decide if they are as bad as I say. Stay tuned for my saggy boobs shortly!!!!!

Huh? Do you really need attention that bad that you will post a pic on a BK board? Why not post it elsewhere? The net is a big place full of people who would give you a better opinion then us here. Like say send your pic to a plastic surgeon along with your financial issues. See what they say? Maybe they'll give you a payment plan?
Sorry to all the guys here......LOL
