If you don't get a 1099c form do you have to do a 982 form anyway?

I moved your question to a new thread where it will get more views than at the end of an old thread.
The fact that you discharged debt in bankruptcy does not require you to fill out a form 982 unless you received a 1099-C for the discharged debt.
There could be other reasons to file a form 982, but filing BK is not one of them.LadyInTheRed is in the black!
Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!
