    Post BK7 question.....

My company has opted to take back their company issued cell phones and is going to make the employees get their own phone and plans. I have had a company issued phone for many, many years.

Has any one had a problem getting a phone and plan after a BK? Do they run a credit check, is it a hit on my credit report?

    and...

Since I never got an answer to my last question, any one know if there is a time limit for the UST to review the trustees final report (asset case)? I heard it was 60 days but can not find that info any where.

    Thanks PG

you can get plan post BK. you may have to put down deposit. I had to with ATT. Best thing to do is speak with customer service directly or visit a store and see what the deal would be for you. you can certainly go to different carriers and see what their policies are in BK situation and getting service.

I have had no issues with AT&T having been a long-term customer (since 1996). I have also had 0 issues with either Verizon or Sprint! I have never needed to make a deposit, despite my bankruptcy (Verizon and Sprint were post-bankruptcy phones/data devices). I believe they mostly look at how you handle other utility accounts, especially past cellular carriers and phone companies!

I have had AT&T run my credit whenever I upgraded my phones, which makes no sense, but they did 2 times since my bankruptcy. No issues. (I was in the AT&T store when this happened and I asked the manager not to run my credit, but he insisted that it was automatic and I had to do so or face a deposit. It was just that I did not want the hard inquiry.)

I know of no rule that limits the UST's time to review an interim trustee's final report. But. . . I have never actually looked for such a rule.

Have you looked at prepaid cell phone service? I pay $30 a month and have unlimited calling, unlimited texting, and 100 mb of data per month. That's a low amount of data but I don't need more. I can check my email on my phone and still not burn through hardly any of my data.
Chapter 7, above median, no asset. Discharged with no UST involvement.

can you see if you can just pick up the phone from the provider?? we did that. one of us went through the exact same situation at work and that number we had over 10 years so we just went to verizon in this case that was the company, and they just let us sign a individual contract. i don't know if they do that anymore, but it may be worth a try.
