Where do I find my creditor matrix I am supposed to mail out to the IRS?

I Received 1099-C after bankruptcy from of my two creditors. Both debts are discharged from my Ch7.

I have read that I am supposed to mail a letter to the IRS with a copy of my discharge paperwork and also my creditor matrix (showing the debtor that sent me the 1099-C)

I only have a discharge paper and a electronic PDF of my petition- which has a mailing matrix at the end showing only the listed creditors and their addresses. (It doesn't show the actual debt amounts.)

Do I just print this list and send it to the IRS along with my discharge papers?
Or should I also send my Schedule F from my Petition? (This shows the actual debt amounts)

    Thank you

You need to file Form 982 with your 1040. If you've already filed, or it's for a different year, you probably have to file an amended 1040.

That's the first I've heard of mailing a copy of the matrix to the IRS (unless it's part of the 982 procedure.) You might want to check your source, and IRS Form 982 instructions.

I'm sure the experts will be along soon, but you can do some research.

The source was from an article written by a BK atty but maybe I read it wrong or something. Anyhow I think you are right and I am required to file form 982.

Since I am currently unemployed and am not filing a 1040 this year. Am I now required to file a 1040 just to be able to attach a 982 form?

I'm not an accountant, but I believe so. Even if the total income puts you under the limit for filing, I would file anyway just for protection, again, check with a tax person before you decide not to file.

No tax on unemployment in your state, or just no unemployment bennies?

Thanks for your clarification. So the safest play is to just file along with the 942, no tax additional tax advice necessary?

          EDIT:

I am not sure, does it make any difference in regards with my filing whether my state is no tax or just no unemployment bennies?

Gotcha! Sorry, didn't mean to be nosy!

You can file online for free. I understand TurboTax online doesn't handle 982s, but Tax Act does.

Sorry you didn't get any other advice yet. I think everyone is out enjoying the great weather we have today (at least here in the Northeast.) I'm sure you'll get more help soon.

Hey no problem! You have been nothing but helpful.

I will look into Tax Act.

Another question if anyone knows. I forgot to mention both 1099-C's indicated they are from bankruptcies so I don't know if this makes any difference or not. ("Identifiable Event Code: A")

Even if you are unemployed, you should file an Income Tax return stating all the activity, or lack thereof, regarding your income for the taxable year. I am by no means an Income Tax authority, but I DO know this from hard experience.
