    Debit card purchase

I am filing pro se this week, I have entered the correct balance from each checking account. Would it be an issue if I had purchased something big ($500) using my debit card this week? I am thinking of waiting a couple more days before I file because of this.

I don't see any issue. Using a debit card for a purchase is basically the same as a cash purchase - or in other words, going to the bank, making a withdrawal and a purchase with that money - in your case, the $500. The way I see it, only a purchase with a CREDIT card would be a problem shortly before filing.

The only thing that changes is that your cash assets are now reduced by $500 and you added whatever you purchased to your personal belongings - so you would have to adjust your schedules accordingly.

I'm sure others will chime in as well.

I don't know how this works, I have not used my credit cards in over 90 days+, but I have used my debit card for some purchases, my bank statement say's what it's for. If you go to Best Buy and buy a TV with a debit card, wouldn't that raise a red flag, or something else that is deemed a luxury item? Suppose it all depends what you spent it on?

$500.00 is not a large amount. You have to live, eat, and pay utility bills while you are preparing to file. As others have said, this is the same as going to the bank, withdrawing the $500.00 then paying cash for your food and utilities. Or that you have had some repairs to your vehicle done.

        Good luck to you!
