    Another Question...

Chapter 7 filing tomorrow - I have remained current on all of my bills up until December. When I saw my lawyer on or about January 15th, he told me to stop paying. I did as instructed, stopped paying all of the credit cards listed in my Bk. I have now begun receiving calls from my creditors (I don't answer the phone calls). When will this stop?? Will I have to answer once my case is filed and tell the caller that I have filed chapter 7 and provide the case #? Or...will the letters my lawyer sends to them stop the calls?

Set up Google Voice to take care of your calls. Research it on this site to set it up. One of the best tings we did before we filed. Good Luck.

also if your filing tomorrow get the docket number from your atty's office and if you do answer the phone you give them your docket number and atty's number and tell them if they call they will be in violation of the bk code laws...although, at this point they have been properly notified as yet. however, by you giving them the docket number that should do it.

the calls will stop as soon as the filing catches up to the creditors, that's why is so important to have provided correct addresses and account numbers for your atty to file. best of luck...it will all go away soon

Once your bk is filed, the creditors will be notified and the vast majority calls should dry up with a day or so.
If a call comes inpost filing, just give them the lawyers name and the bk case number. Peace and quiet are just aroound the corner.

I actually enjoyed calling my creditors after I filed to give them my case number. But, as already stated, the calls should stop on their own once all creditors receive notice. Most credit card companies receive electronic notices of BK filing, so they stop calling within a couple of days.

It took me so long to save up the money to hire an attorney, I actually outlasted all but a few cc people on the phone. I don't have a land line, turned my cell phone to silent, deleted all calls and when they called work, they told them up front I could not accept outside phone calls that weren't emergencies. I just have one that calls me sporadically now and of course, that's Wells Fargo.
