Hopefully last question-how far back do bank statements have to go for trustee in OH?

I have read that BK trustees, especially in Ohio, require copies of bank statements for all accounts for the 30 days surrounding the bankruptcy petition filing. Has anyone heard the same?

6 months back is pretty typical.

Unless you give them reason to want to see more.

I had to provide 7 months worth of bank statements.

      11-18-09-DISCHARGED!!

Life is not what challenges you face, but how you face those challenges.

When you say "bank statements," do you also means credit card statements? Or is all they ask for bank and asset accounts?

        Cheers!

Usually credit card statements that go back 90 days before your filing date (that might mean 4 months worth depending on how the dates fall).

You should be prepared to explain any major charges over a couple hundred dollars on those statements, should you be asked. As well, you should be able to explain any major movement of deposits and withdrawals on the bank accounts. The Trustee may want written explanations, or even receipts, if anything looks suspect. Not to concern you - this is pretty standard-issue. All asset accounts will need to be disclosed and listed on your filing. If it is an account dealing with your monthly finances (checking, 401k, investments, savings, trust, etc) then you will likely need 6 months worth. Credit accounts - credit cards, mortgage, vehicle loans, title loans, personal loans, etc - you will need 3+ months.

As soon as you file, all access to online accounts will be blocked, so get those statements ASAP.

And since you have nothing to hide, there is nothing wrong... just routine.

            This link should help:

Its the Dept of Justice's "Best Practices" Manual for Trustees re: required documentation.

            Cheers,

I believe for a consumer BK7 they look back up to six months on bank statements. Typically, 3 months on CC. IMO it is done as part of the assumption of abuse. They are less interested in these documents for non-consumer BK7. However, for either case they can go back up to several years if they suspect you are hiding assets.

Be sure to get a snapshot of all accounts on the day of your filing for your records to prove what you wrote down in your petition is accurate.

My attorney asked for 6 mos. of bank statements. No CC statements. 2 years income tax.

Your attorney should give you a list of what is required.

My trustee asked for 90 days of bank statements including the date of filing. She did a quick look to see about what my balance was the day of filing, but that was it. I also had a print out from my online banking of my account balances the day I filed. That was helpful to her also. I am in Ohio.
