THIS is IT!! PLEASE SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS FOR ME!!!!

ok - many of you know that I have been on this journey a loonnggggg time. I have reviewed the third revision of the petition and are ready to go.

Problem was hubby received a big (big to us) commission just days ago. I told my attorney it was coming - he told me that it alright to send in estimated federal and state taxes to decrease the amount of cash on hand.

    Is this ok to do?????

As usual, he is not available to confirm what he told me last week as he basically kicked me out the door - unfortunately the behavior that I have endured throughout this process.

I want to send this out TODAY!!!

THANKS FOR EVERYONE"S PATIENCE AND GUIDANCE!!!

If you would owe taxes without the estimated payment, I don't see why it would be a problem, especially since your attorney told you to do it.

To me, paying estimated tax with a large bonus doesn't negate the fact that you received a large bonus. You have only "offset" taxes with the bonus. As to whether this would affect your case... I have absolutely no idea. You need to lean and turn to your attorney for what to do and for them to get you through this.

Good point, JB. It does raise a question about income.

But, making a tax payment does take care of the stated goal of decreasing cash on hand.

          Thank you. everyone!

This money came in this month - look back ended 10/31. We are WAY below the income levels for chapter 7. I already calculated the tax due for 2012 - self-employed and no withholding - so this would pay about 90% of what will be owed for this year.

Attorney is very abrupt and rushes me when we have meetings - the people on this board are way more responsive and helpful!!
