Can I vent for a minute??

Met with a few attorneys and picked one I really connected with.

She gives me a packet to fill out and tells me to bring it back completely filled out, along with the filing fee and credit counseling fee. I'm thinking 'Whew... this is gonna be okay, I'm pretty organized and I should have everything needed'.

    Yeah... I don't.

I'm so overwhelmed I could scream!!

My husband pays child support for his middle child and is in arrears (I know it's less than $500), however, he also receives child support for his oldest and the mother is in arrears probably close to $15K?? The online system only goes back 5 payments in each case. What now?

Also, we received financial assistance (Food Stamps) in 2010, 2011, and a few months of 2012. I have no idea where to find this information??

    Any help would be appreciated!

You may be able to go online to your food stamp account and pull the history. I say that because when I was on Unemployment, it used to be deposited direct to our checking account, and our attorney had to be satisfied with a printout from our checking account with those items highlighted in yellow. Then things changed, or I hit the wrong button, and I got it in the form of a debit card. I was able to go online and pull that history.

For the child support, if they go through the courts, you may be able to request the history from the family court. If your husband is paying and being paid directly and you don't have the paper trail, then you can only do what you can. However, now is a good time to start that paper trail by photocopying both sides of the check or money order showing who it is made out to and for what.

Also look through your Income Tax documentation for both your state and Federal taxes, and see if you may have gotten a statement for the amount of food stamps assistance. I have gotten one each year for my unemployment.

Good wishes to you and your DH.

      Thank you for your insight!

I've been off and on because I'm almost due to have this baby anytime. It's wearing me out, couple that with an 11 year old in JR High and a 2 year old and yeah... I'm exhausted!!

I called DCFS and asked for a print out and they're suppose to be sending me one through the mail. I'm hoping it comes sooner than later.

I almost have everything filled out and boy are my hands sore! We're hoping to go pay our attorney and start the filing process this Friday.
This Friday also happens to be a day of court for me for a voluntary repo. Fun stuff. :/
