    Credit cards after Bankruptcy

I've heard from someone on this forum, that they were able to discharge $17,000 of unsecured debt from Capital One.

Amazing to me, after they filed their chapter 7, Capital One came back with new credit card offers. I would think Capital One would have blackballed the person.

Capital One is a good example of a bankruptcy friendly lender. Many others are not.

Some credit card companies have a large customer base in people with poor or just starting out/over credit. Some of those may not give a 2nd chance to someone who defaulted before, but alot of them don't have much of a choice... If you close the door on your customers, you run out of customers...

      Capital One $500 (12/05)

They realize that you can't file BK again for a long time, so some of them see you as not so bad a risk.

You are actually a better risk after bk than someone who has not filed. Many people are highly overextended and will file anytime. Those who have filed (and been discharged) have no debt and cannot file again for many years, therefore a better risk.
