We were planning on filing at the end of this month. Wouldn't you know it, I just found out that I'm getting a fairly substantial bonus in the middle of the month. While it wouldn't affect our 6 month look back as we are still under the median income what about looking forward? My bonuses have been pretty small up to this point but have been steadily increasing. If I continue getting bonuses like this or even a bit over the bonuses I have gotten the past 4 months it puts us well over the median. I realize that bonuses are not guaranteed but am worried about what a trustee might think. I can file immediately but it will take almost all of my cash for the next two weeks. I'm talking no money left. Ramen noodles and tap water style no money. Driving only to work and back to conserve gas style no money. Is it worth it to file before this bonus or does the trustee really only care about past income? I intend to be completely honest and up front but really don't want to raise any red flags if I can help it....
