Time for secured creditors to get items after discharge

Is there a time limit for a secured creditor to come and get secured items back once the discharge happens? Can they come a year after?

i would ask your atty what the time limit is. i know places like rooms to go, best buy and some others threaten to take back the stuff in an attempt to have you pay the balance. chances are after you tell them the dog and kitty peed on the couch they want back, they most likely will not want it

what you can do is write them or have the atty write them a letter stating to come and pick up the items by such and such a date or you are throwing them out...LOL!!! that should get them moving.

has this creditor called you and asked you for the items back as yet?

No I have not been contected. I was just curious if I 6 months down the road or so I can get a knock on my door asking for stuff back. Some of the iotems I honestly do not have anymore. Some small electronics broke and I just threw them away. It was cheaper to replace them.

is your bk discharged yet??? if it is and they haven't already asked for them back, i wouldn't worry about it much. if they do contact you 6 months down the road they are all gone.

and closed??? if it's closed and they don't have a claim in, i would GUESS to say you are good to go!

Yes it was closed same day as discharge. I was surprised but glad to see it.

someone else may chime in on this, but i think if you are closed and discharged and they haven't yelled yet, you are most likely safe.

Chances are they won't try. But if they do, there are some legal hoops they'd have to jump thru first.
Many threats have been mentioned here, very little follow thru. Not to worry.
