    Filing today...I hope

    Hello,

I've been lurking and reading for about a month now. This site has great info and it's reassuring to read stories of other peoples journeys.

We decided to go with an attorney. I had a stoke in 2007 and didn't feel I could successfully do the paperwork on my own. After listing 98 creditors !!!!! I was glad we had an attorney. Most of our debt is consumer, with most also having a collection account or 2. I divorced in 2008 and had to list all my ex's creditors too. It took 2 weeks to do the homework for the attorney....ugh

The attorney had it all ready about 10 days later and we signed last night. He's making a few minor corrections today and will Efile this afternoon or tomorrow. Yay!

    So, here we go!

        Thanks!

        Thanks

The attorney called and we are officially filed! Kind of a sad day i guess.
Many thanks going out to predatory lending and 25% interest car loans for making this day happen. I know i could have said no but ...really? I've been paying $250 a month for 2 years on a personal loan and I still owe more than I borrowed?? really?

Welcome to the forum and I wish you the best with all you issues. While we signed the agreements, the CC companies did not hesitate to jack up their rates at the first sign of weakness. I felt relief when we filed knowing that the CC companies were finally forced to get off my back. BK was a great decision for us and in time I think you will agree.

Welcome & hope you are doing well.

I know about the high CC rates. When they raised them to 30% a few years ago, after never being late, etc, it was like we could never get ahead. We are going to file next month (I cannot wait) and hopefully get our new start!

              Take care of yourself!

i can never get out of my mind a emergency project we had to do with home depot which was citi bank...we were paying 1500.00 monthly to pay it off without a blink of an eye. then one day in the mail we get your we have dropped your line after 20 years, NO....that's right they were CLOSING the account... and were raising our rate to 33%. it was at 12.99 but was on this pay off in 24 months and no interest....we where still in the middle of the project and had to halt it all.

boa and chase followed...we always paid over double of our minimum and most other that the home depot situation were for medical expenses never late EVER in our lives...cut our lines and jacked every rate to over 30% making it impossible to make payments. i.e. a double payment would be $300 and now the minimum payment was $600...like we were suppose to poop the money?
