New collection on cr even though iib

Had a alert from my credit monitoring service. When I checked it had a collection bureua show up with dates of 3/1/12 and reported as of 4/2/12

I called the collection agency and they said it was from a hospital bill from 8/11. She said she sees where it was included ihn BK since they had several collections for me medical wise. I asked her to have the item removed, She said the hospital turmed it over to them 3/1/12 so I can dispute and they will update to iib. Were they even allowed to put it on my report as a new collection knowing it was iib?

Called the hospital and they said the received notice of my BK for other accounts but not this one so they can still try and collect. My lawyer said they only needed to be notified of the bk and it would cover all the bills, that they don't need to be notified about each account. So anything I can do at this point?

It should have never been added, after the fact, to your report. Dispute it with all bureau's reporting it and have your attorney write the morons at the hospital. This is, of course, assuming this debt was incurred before filing.

Hospital is wrong - you are relieved of any and all debts that qualify when you are discharged in Ch 7, whether the exact account is listed or not. Usually, a copy of the discharge order sent to the agency will end all efforts to collect. If that comes from an attorney's office I can guarantee the efforts will stop. And, the bureau should easily update the reporting as requested.

What is difficult is that collectors, etc can easily make a mess of your credit report but it takes a huge effort to get those mistakes fixed. Bureaus ought to be help more accountable for verifying the accuracy of the data.

I got notice yesterday and proof that they are deleting the collection from my credit reports with a letter of apology for the mis-understanding.
