Thanks everyone! She is just happy to finally get it done. Honestly I would have done it years ago if she would have just called around and found out that all it's going to cost us is the $105 for the marriage license and $0 to have the court commissioner marry us. We won't have a "real" wedding but we will have a party next summer that will be dual purpose.

It's not the shindig you host that defines a marriage but the vows and emotions behind them.

Plus - you will both get your Fresh Start together, too!! What a lovely way to start your married life.

Hey Brew, my wife and I just came out of our BK and I gotta tell you, it was so much easier than my brain wanted to believe. Got prepped with our lawyer, filed away, went to court One Time (where we spoke for all of 5 minutes) and 4-5 months later, we are debt free and done. Go for it, the fresh start is really nice...
Filed Chapter 7 7/14/2011, 341 meeting 8/16/2011, discharged 10/19/2011! Note that my posts are not legal advice, so please do not sue me, I have enough problems already.

Well, we had our 341 today and I have to thank the guy that went before us for making it so smooth. Background; the trustee was formally military and likes every "i" dotted and every "t" crossed so we made sure he had every single thing that he requested. So after we talk with our attorney we go into the room and a couple has just been called up and we are reading this required piece of paper (something about the difference between different bankruptcies, don't really remember the details). After I finish my required reading I'm listening to the couple answering the questions, they seem cool/calm, I'm shaking like a leaf. Then I get a text on my phone (Oh sh!t, oh sh!t how do I turn this thing off!).

So then the next guy goes up, he's got some weird brace on around his chest area and a cast like thing on his arm. The trustee starts asking questions and it's one problem after another. Apparently he had previously filed for BK in Jan of 2004, he had given away some motorcycles to his mother which he hadn't disclosed the value of, and he was receiving disability payments as an annuity and only disclosed the monthly payment, not the lump some. At the end the trustee said something like I'll see you back here on (such and such date), the attorney made a comment and the trustee said we have been here for 15 minutes discussing something that should have 3 minutes if your firm would have taken care of these issues.

So now it's 11:15, we were supposed to be at 11:00 and our attorney had told us how the trustee liked to be ahead of schedule, I'm freaking out thinking that he might take it out on us as well. As we get sworn in I'm visibly shaking, whole body shaking. We answer his questions as fast as possible, yes, no, no, yes, no, yes, bing, bang, boom you are dismissed.

So now we just have to finish our second online counselling session and wait.

p.s. No creditors showed up, seemed like the norm since the trustee gave about half a second for them to respond.
