Once upon a time I had a stockpile but it's been slowly diminished to almost nothing. That's why we were filing for the bk to get a little relief. Believe me, if we even had an extra $100 to put aside for emergencies, we would have done so but things have just been THAT tight. It took us forever to get the money together for filing even. What a week for this to have happened I am trying to see what we have in the way of change or pop bottles right now as I have to figure out something. Thanks for all the replies everyone..

At ;east that stockpile got you further with less harm than if you did not have it. When you do get on your feet, and it will come, do the hundred and collect a stockpile of storable foods. Ten bucks a week and stow it not in your pantry until significant. Then rotate it. It will get bad, but it will get better. Always think positive as you pick your poison daily. Make it lemonade, not lemons. 'Hub

Addak, how about a yard sale this weekend? Get rid of stuff you have not used in a year. Sell for pennies on the dollar (as yard sales go). Do this and God will provide. But you have to take the first step. Tomorrow is Friday. You have time tonight to plan and box or bag stuff you don't need or use. Do this and you will make more than twenty bucks or you can call me bad names Monday. LOL. A special prayer has gone towards you and you must act and it will be given. 'Hub

I can't believe your attorney didn't file! And now you can't contact him, either?!

This type of thing is my worst nightmare. That I'll consult with five different attorneys, and choose the one that I get the best vibes from--the most sympathetic one, who holds my hand--and then he drops the ball, once he gets paid.

If you already had a judgement, then this could of happened before you met with the attorney on Friday. I knew that the bank could seize my funds from my bank account 45 days after I received the summons so I stopped using my bank account and cancelled direct deposit and got money orders and gift cards to pay my bills. Yes, the attorney did say he was going to file Tuesday or Wednesday and may not have but this may have gotten to the bank before then anyway.

The attorney filed yesterday morning and after a $125 service charge for the levy and a $27 overdraft fee, our funds were freed up to use again. Unfort even though my bank acct showed my mortgage as paid, they pulled the payment back so I am also going to have a late fee and an overdraft fee from them as well but at least we should have enough left over for food and a few other necessities. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, well wishes and sympathy.

He pretty much explained that they do all filing on Fridays and since we were in on Friday, our case was set to file the next week (today). It would have been nice to have known this prior but at least its done now even if we are a wee bit poorer than we started out being this week.

RIght I know from the boards here that can happen, BUT if he knows there is an outstanding judgement, he shouldn't have waited...that's just very very very wrong.

I agree. You didn't pay him to let your paperwork sit on his desk and collect dust for a week.

I would have thought the place would have forgiven these charges since you incurred this by a mixed bag of errors. However you at least got some and the account is freed up. Now, put that hundred dollar bill into your wallet and forget it for any other type of emergency. (you are less likely to spend and break a hundred bill). 'Hub

But, didn't he originally tell you he'd file on Tuesday or Wednesday?

Well, at any rate, I'm glad you got it straightened out.
