My husband and I have realized that we are going to have to file but I am totally unsure of how to proceed and know of no attorneys in the area, either good or bad. Would sure appreciate some suggestions if anyone has any. Not sure how this forum works, so hopefully even though I am new, I can receive PMs. Thanks so much!

You can also call the clerk of your BK Court. If you do not know where this is, locate the nearest Federal Courthouse to where you live. You should be able to find this on the Internet, or in the old-fashioned phone book. Call them and ask for a list of BK attorneys in your area. They will be obligated to give you a list of all of them, but likely you will get some kind of hint as to to the people that the Clerks and personnel in the Clerk's office prefer to deal with. They know which ones are prepared, professional and on time, as well as the attorneys that are poorly prepared, slip-shod, and are rude to the clerks and the court.
