Send copy of my discharge to all three credit reporting agencies

My lawyer suggested that I send a copy of my discharge and petition to the three credit reporting agencies to show all my outstanding debts were included in my discharge. Has anyone done this, and wouldn't a copy of just my discharge papers, which lists all the creditors, be enough? My petition is about 50 pages long.

You should not need to do any of that, most creditors will update your account. You just need to check your credit report about a month or 2 after discharge, and see that everything is being reported properly; if something is not being reported properly, then go through the dispute process which may include sending in the discharge.

Thanks HHM, that's what I thought to, will do. Still waiting for my case to be closed.

Agreed - never, EVER, send anything to the bureaus except ID. They already know WAY too much about us as it is now AND they do not read any of it anyway. You should advise your lawyer, casually, about this as this is not so slick advice.

Thanks, you're right. Have another question, Once your case is discharged and closed, does the bankruptcy court still monitor you or your case?

No, once discharged AND closed, the case is over.
