    no closing yet

I thought my case was closed, but it's been 20 days since my discharge and nothing yet. I am a no distribution case, don't know what's taking so long, makes me nervous. has anyone else taken a long time to close?

Yep - I was discharged nearly 2 months ago and still not closed. The reason has nothing to do with me - the trustee is trying to get my ex to pay $ he owed me that I couldn't exempt. The interesting thing is that I am still listed as a no asset case. My lawyer said not to worry about it.

Thanks, I don't have anything like that. Called my lawyers office to ask, secretary told me once I get my discharge papers I'm done.

I called the court and the clerk told me that it was just the administrative thing. She also told me that the most important thing is you get discharged and the letter from the court saying that you're discharged and that matters. No need to worry about it.

i have seen in come cases it take up to a few months to receive both orders. sometimes they come together (ours did, the order of discharge and the order of the closing), however, it's really common, especially, nowadays with the courts so backed up to have to wait on one or the other.

the good thing is, most likely IF it were something "bad", your atty's would know about i by now, or at least one would think so.

Thanks everyone I appreciate the input. I would think my attorney would know too. Everything on pacer checks out okay, no objections etc. Just have to be patient. At least I'm officially discharged!

Don't sweat it. It a couple weeks after our discharge for our case to be closed. We were sweating bullets too...it's probably an administrative thing.

I'm in Colorado. We were discharge in May, still no closing. A friend of mine has been waiting two years for his and still nothing. Has anyone in Colorado been discharged and closed recently??

Yours is an asset case from what I gather, and the money your ex owed you is what the trustee plans to distribute to creditors.
