Selling a car before 341 meeting

I have a 1998 Ford Windstar Van, claimed as exempt on my Schedule C at $1400 in value. Can I sell this car before or after my 341 meeting?

Thanks so much for any advice.

I do not advise selling the vehicle even if claimed as exempt until the property is abandoned. . . typically meaning case is closed. If you want to sell it before I would recommend that you get the Trustee to put in writing that he/she does not oppose your actions.

Thanks so much for the advice. Do I have anything to lose in asking my trustee about this? Do you think it's ok to include this request with the tax info and forms he has asked me to return before the 341?

You have nothing to lose if the property is exempt!

Thanks for the validation - I talked to a legal advisor today and she said the same thing - since I'm selling it after filing and using the money for necessities the trustee should have no problem with it.
