    Terminated = Closed?

    This has probably been asked, but I coulndt find any posts. My case shows as status of "terminated" on PACER today and the judge has released the trustee from any further duties.

    Is this the same as closed?

    Thanks.

    Ask your lawyer for an update. My case closed on July 7th but PACER stated it was the 19th. Your lawyer will have the copy from the court.

      That is a bit weird terminology to use. It could mean your case was dismissed as well. I would not celebrate until you define that ambiguous term. 'Hub
      If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

        Here is the exact wording. It still shows the discharge date of 8/11/11, and then the status shows "terminated" with a last filing date as of today.

        "The estate having been fully administered, further administration of the reopened case having been completed, or the case reopened for the filing of further proceedings which either have been filed and no further court action is required or were not filed within 90 days of the reopening; IT IS ORDERED that the case is closed and if a trustee has been appointed, the trustee is discharged from and relieved of his trust. Jurisdiction is retained over any pending adversary(s). Bankruptcy Judge xxxxx) (Entered: 08/18/2011)

        They used the word "closed" in this text, but the status definetely says terminated.

          OK, now it is clear. You had your case reopened for some reason and now it is closed, and terminated in all interests such as an AP or other legal procedures. You are done. Consider it over. Grats. 'Hub

            Yeah, actually my case WASNT reopened as far as I know....I monitored PACER every day and never saw a closed entry. Just discharge last week which was about on schedule as expected. When I read the above I see that the first sentence can be that ANY of the three items have occurred (i.e. "The estate having been fully administered OR, further administration of the reopened case having been completed, OR the case reopened for the filing of further proceedings which either have been filed and no further court action is required or were not filed within 90 days of the reopening.

            So my district must just use the word terminated instead of closed as the status.

            I agree...I think Im done. Thanks.
