Yes we did use alternative financing, at 0% interest! The only catch was that we would find new financing after five years. Hopefully it works out ok because we have a reasonable amount of equity and with the interest rate we have we are paying down fairly fast. So, as you said, hopefully the banks start opening the purse strings!

Some day, banks will start to sell money to borrowers again. In the meantime, they seem content to keep building up their shadow inventory of foreclosed homes.

FYI - today I received my Lucky #13. That's right - the 13th call from my mortgage bank offering me the opportunity to do a loan modification! By my records, this will be the 24th time I have sent in the same information, changing only the dates. This after not reaffirming my loans, turning down a HAMP modification, and 15 months since my last payment. Still no NOD...and the house next door just went up for short sale at 42% of what they paid 5 years ago.

one would really hope the banks will have to get this ecomony moving.

the kicker...if one owned preffered stock, or corp. bonds, in any of the major banks or corps that went under and were bailed out. they got OUR tax dollar to get them back on thier feet, left all the investors high and dry that were holding their stocks or bonds. now they have all OUR money!! so i hope the banks will be forced to loosen up, after all i am hard pressed to believe than one out of three people in the country have some type of blemish on their credit reports. mainly, because of the banks upping people's card card interests amounts to payments that made it impossible for people to reach. what a scam!!!

i think there are going to be way to many for us, for the banks not to do business with us, or they can just sit on our tax money forever, i suppose.
