    Schedule J questions

I'm working on filling out the Schedule J before I speak with an attorney just to get a rough idea of where we are at. I have a few questions on various expenses:

2c - Telephone - Is this strictly landline phone service? Ours is bundled like basically all phone service now with cable and internet-do I just find the "telephone" portion on the itemized bill and include that? What about cell phone service? We use our cell phones for primary communication anyway. The only reason we even got a landline is so there wouldn't be any confusion with a 911 call (some 911 services can't locate cell phones). Would cell phones go under line 2d "other?"

Also, does anyone have a link to the allowable expenses for Schedule J on the DoJ website? I can't find it anywhere. What I mean is, where can I find the allowable expenses for food for a family of three in my county in NJ, etc...? Also, does transportation include fuel costs and auto maintenance or does it refer to bus/subway fares, etc...? If it doesn't mean fuel and maintenance where do those expenses go?

2c - Telephone - Our attorney just separated the landline from my bundle pricing.

Our attorney put our cell service on 2d - Other along with a brief explanation.

Here is the link you requested. You can these to get an idea for your 'base' expenses on Schedule J.

http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa...anstesting.htm - the various links are there!

On schedule J - Transportation would include license plates, tires, fuel, basic maintenance, tolls, parking, bus and subway fares. Basically it covers anything to do with transportation EXCEPT your car payment(s).

Not an attorney - just an opinionated woman.

Thanks! So for example, for my region, the allowable expense for the operation of two cars is $684. However, it also says that you're allowed the national average amount or the amount actually spent-which is less. I honestly have no idea if I spend more, the same, or less than the average. How do I know what to list?

My attorney listed the allowed expense. In addition, in my district, if you have over 75,000 miles or the car is over 7 years old, I could take an additional 200.00 deduction. Check wether your district allows that if it applies.

Also, my cell phone was listed separate from my landline. Your attorney should know what trustee in your area will accept.
