Keeping car insured but going to surrender

Sunshine, I've been...lazy - and the stay wasn't lifted off of it until June 20th - didn't want to rock the boat. Will call them tomorrow morning and get it off my record and off my ins!!!

I talked to someone at the DMV about this today and they said once the car is not in my possession, then I should remove the car from my insurance policy, and they would update their records.

Pandora and everyone - I had a motorcycle repoed in early April - these people still have it on my DMV record so I still have to pay ins...how can I let DMV know - can I just tell them it's been repoed? (It's being "surrendered" as part of Ch 13 of spouse, and dear lawyer of lender already filed and got lift of stay - thing is we haven't had the thing since APRIL!!)

Yep as sunshinepea stated, just call DMV and let them know. You may have to provide proof that it was repo'd and is no longer in your possession. Also - make sure you contact the county to have it removed from record as well as a follow up to DMV

Well, I'm going there on Sat AM to turn in plates on stupid idea (I mean motorcylce) #2 - I trust there will be a form to fill out :-)

IamOld - that is one of the signs of depression, not taking care of things. Just call them and get this taken care of. You should not be paing for something that you do not use. Alas, I did that myself, for way too long, until I finally made the call.

Yes, well, on Sat I'm going to the DMV anyway, so it'll be all taken care of.
