Just made a list of all the creditors I owe

Made a list to bring to my attorney of all the creditors I owe and how much the balances are as of today.

The only thing I have to ask myself is why did I wait so long? The total comes to over $50K and as I was typing, I got sick to my stomach.

Be that as it may, I feel I'm going in the right direction with this and hopefully next year I can start fresh again and start doing what we s hould have done a long time ago.

    thanks for listening.

Alot of people ask the same question on why they waited so long. I think most of us felt we made the debt and we should pay it regardless of circumstances that made us unable to keep up. i also think the cc companies brought some of this on themselves with the new laws. I know it increased my payments and helped force me into not paying and filing for BK.

LOL - you will owe more than that with late charges and interest before it's all said and done. I had not paid in 6 mos. and the additional amounts were staggering.

Stay on your path and you will be fine.
      Filed CH 7 4/15/11
      341 5/23/11
      DISCHARGED & CLOSED ON 7/27/11

Yeah, I know it is going to go up. The interest on my cards are mind blowing. I too felt the exact same way as you did and trust me, i had all intentions of keeping up. I think pride was also a big part of it and that if I filed, I would feel like I failed at what I did. The past two years have been hard for us and when we accumulated most of the debt. The wife was out of work for 10 months (two pregnancies and the passing of a child - long story and not for here). Once she got back to work I t hought we could make it, but I was just kidding myself.

In any case, I'm here now and giong down the right path I believe. At this point, we have a house and cars and I could care less about what my scores are going to do. For the first time in many many many months I feel no stress about money and paying the bills and know that we will have money left over at the end of the month.

It took me forever, much, much longer than it should have. I was unemployed (except for some temp work) for over a year before I finally fiogured out I was having trouble buying groceries and even then was paying twice the minimum on my cc's before I finally found this site and realized my 'good name' was just feeding the bottom feeders.

Thank God for this site! Everyone has really been supportive and I am so glad it is finally almost over. Still not working and every once in a while I kick myself for trying to pay them for so long. But, water under the bridge.

But you would have got zeroed out in Chapter 7 in any case, so you might as well only file when you run out of cash.
