You would probably be amazed at how many people around you that have filed. Most people just don't tell anyone that they have filed. I remember thinking in our 341 meeting that it was such a diverse group of people also filing that day. There was young familes. Older people that looked to be at retirement age. One couple that was there lived in the wealthy part of my town that was filing and keeping their house. Said it was the second time that they had filed. There was rich looking business people that was filing. Don't worry, Murphy's law happens to everyone. All you can do is pick yourself up and move forward. You will be fine!

I posted a summary of my experience earlier, called What I Have Learned in Filing Bankruptcy. Those posts summarize pretty much the same range of challenges we felt when filing - and how we dealt with them.
Just wanted to say thank you for this series of posts you made, they were incredibly helpful.

Also thanks to the OP for posting this and everyone who responded. I am in the same minset as the OP, but have not been able to file yet as it will be some time before I can save enough to pay the attorney fee, which is an additional stress. All the supportive responses here have been wonderful.

        Welcome to the forum.
Most of us have been in your shoes and feel the same way. It was a difficult decision and (life altering) to make, I know, but it will get better soon. Make no mistake. It is stressful. Forget the purple Koolaid all those bankruptcy lawyers serve up, because your "freedom" or "fresh start" is not without cost. Funny how they don't talk about the stress of getting through on those commercials..
But in the end, it will make it possible to rebuild your life. Those 3-4 months were tough! I did find this forum late in the game, but I am very grateful for the all the help and encouragement I found here. The economy has really taken its toll on many of us, so you will be in good company.
