Received a collection letter from some attorney/collection agency for $23,xxx which really took me by surprise. I called and told them I filed and was discharged over a year ago and they said to get some papers together and send it to them. Shouldn't they be doing the research on their end? Do I need to worry about this or can I ignore it?

At this point, they should check your ssn on pacer, or your case # if you gave it to them.
They will mark it in their system, and then probably sell it to someone else. All information contained in this post is for informational and amusement purposes only.
Bankruptcy is a process, not an event.......

If they do contact you again I would call up the atty that handled the BK and sue them! My atty actually did sue a creditor same situation, expect it was only within a couple months of me filing for BK.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

What do you sue for and what do you win when you win? There aren't any actual damages that I can see.
As for the attorney that did the BK...he has really turned into a very unhelpful individual after the BK. I had a question months after the BK and was told by his secretary that "We no longer represent you and if you would like to hire our services, we would be able to help you at that time." Nice service from someone who received $2000 to file the BK.
