    Keeping a credit card

    Hi!
Me again... did anyone keep a credit card throughout bk proceeding and after. Lawyer suggested keeping a zero balance card if I want to use it after (for car rentals, etc). If you did keep one, which company? Thanks!

I didn't, but I should have. I had all kinds of good cards before I filed bk, that had zer0 balances and I cancelled them. Chase gold, capital one, providian etc.

I would if I were you, espeically if it is no cost ect. I'm told you will get alot of offers after bk, however, they will be with annual fees, high interest rates. If your really interested in not getting back into debt, I'm told the best way to prevent casual use of it is: 1) Don't carry it in your wallet, 2) Freeze it in a block of water, so if you are actually tempted to use it, it will take awhile to get it. Usually the urge to spend goes away sooner than the block of ice melts.

ps...if you freeze it, don't zap it in a microwave to get it thawed quicker, you will ruin it!!!

I don't think that would work. That would make it all the more fun just to smash the block of ice on the ground and pick the card out!

I wish I had a card with a zero balance...

Used to get 'em and max 'em...I vow to live my life completely differently now. No more credit for groceries, gas, or anything!!! I can't wait!!
