Hired bk lawyer today

Hi!
I did it - hired and paid the lawyer today. I am anxious to get to the paperwork and anticipate it being complete by the end of the week. All my accounts are current as of today (except IRS) - when should I stop paying the monthly bills? I don't want the calls to come to the house (someone staying with us this month)... when do the calls start? Thanks!

Assuming you're filing within the next couple weeks I wouldn't send any more payments. They can't call you to collect after the filing anyway due to the automatic stay...

Basically make sure you keep your utilities current to avoid big deposits later and keep home/auto current if you plan to keep them.....

If your current and filing soon, you won't get any phone calls.

We didn't start getting phone calls until after we'd missed 2 payments. So you don't have to worry about your guest overhearing an unpleasant phone conversation with a Creditor.

Just an FYI,............ Just in case, get several copies of your attny's card and place one near each phone. If you get a call from a Creditor, all you have to do is tell them you're filing BK, give them your attny's name and phone number and that's it. Honorable Creditors are really nice about it. At least that's been my experience so far.
