I agree with you tobee43. As long as I have been in the field, there was no way I would go into court without an attorney. I was very fortunate because a good friend of mine has been doing BK stuff for many many years. He's the best. I never worried once that our backs wouldn't be covered. If anything being in this field made me think too much.

Isn't that the truth. Even when I doing doc prep, if it's too much, I tell the people I would not do this without an attorney. If there are too many "red flags" that the trustee or UST attorney will be looking at, you just know.

i thought about helping with bk paperwork to make a few $$'s but now hate it so much!!

i'm doing HOA legal work now, just by chance since it just really fell in my lap and it's just reviewing docs, and this week i got a labor contract dispute i'm working on. and, i tell EVERYONE one of them....run this by the HOA atty, or after reviewing the labor dispute contract, i said get yourself a labor law atty, you have a suit for sure...

if it's a nice easy clean chapter 7 doc work i have that in my puter already!! both my state and federal. but i just don't want to go there ...not yet anyway.

i do know in the state i came from i couldn't do this legal work outside a law office per sa, however, here where we live now, one can. which is interesting....but then again dental techs put crowns in...LOL!!!

My "real" job is an Office Manager for a civil litigation firm and we handle employment disputes, personal injury and all of that stuff.

I really like helping people that are so stressed about their financial issues (like I was) and if its too much for me, then I send them to my friend, or if they just don't want to go to court alone, I have a friend that will just attend the 341(a) for $500. Out here the collection tactics are getting worse. There is a law firm in California that is sueing on behalf of all of the big banks, Chase, Citi, etc. for amounts as little as $2K. This firm is one of worst around. They don't give fax numbers, they use improper tactics to serve people with a summons and complaint. They are awful. It scares people that aren't familiar with the legal field. So if I can help someone with that stuff, why not.

sounds like your in the right field for you. i know it was a great feeling when the firms i work for won a really compassionate case that we worked years on. the clients emotions and really all of us so vested in their cause. it really is a great sense of fulfillment. i always say i was working in the field for 13 years, but i was with another firm for 2 years, so for me it's been 15 years and i really loved the research behind the scenes work the best.

i only charged this poor lady that was fired for no cause and the employer wanted her to sign her life away, waive all her rights for 1400 bucks...$50, but sat with her for 2 hours while she cried about losing her job for no apparent good reason after 9 years.

mlsj2009 I think you are correct. He is very, very old, late 60's I'd guess. By collection proof does that mean he thinks he is incapable of making an error? He's already made several that I can pick up on.

Still no reply from my attorney. Still "no asset" on Pacer, and still no report of "no asset" on there, either. To me, this waiting period is as stressful as waiting for discharge. Am I being overly-concerned?

Skibum: There should not be any problems since you are far past the 60 day period of time for objection as your 341(a) hearing was in February. You case should be discharged actually by now also. I would contact the Clerk of the BK Court, they are very friendly, give them your case number and see if they can give you any further information. Have you completed your "post petition" financial management course yet?
