I was reading online (probably a bad thing to do) that they take things like jewelry and things like that? That just made me really concerned that they might take my engagement/wedding rings and/or furniture.. even though it's half my husbands. What are the exemptions on things like this? We are in Indiana. I know my attorney asked for the value when we went through things... and we determined that my half of everything like furniture/jewelry,etc.. was around 4000...he said my rings were probably valued at 1/4 of what we originally paid for them. I don't have much that's just mine. I would just be very sad if they had to take any of it.. especially my rings. All of our furniture was paid in full. Although my husband, who is not filing technically bought it all before we were married.

Here is a link to the exemptions in Indiana: http://www.legalconsumer.com/bankrup...hp?ST=IN#other
Among the other exemptions you'll see listed at the link is a "wildcard" of $9350 which you can apply to anything. If your lawyer suggests you value your items around 4K (and he will know what is reasonable in your district) then you can exempt everything, twice. There are two secrets for success in life:
1.) Never tell everything you know.
