341 meeting done - now what?

well, i had my 341 meeting friday! whew....i was soooo nervous....even with reading all the experiences here, i still was paranoid that i'd be that one exception who'd walk in and have something go wrong .....but nope!! it was just the same as the average outcome on here.....

i got there a half hour early and was actually expecting it to be an actual courtroom but it wasn't.....i waited in a small waiting room with a bunch of other people.....then ten minutes before my time, my lawyer popped out of the room where the 341 meetings where being held.....he told me and a few others who he was representing also to have our social security card and license ready.....so at noon, everyone in the waiting room came into the meeting room.....the trustee was there at a table in the middle of the room with a laptop and a recording device....there were chairs on the one side of the room for everyone to wait at....i got to watch one person get asked questions and then they left.....then the trustee explained the "rules" before the afternoon appointments...then he took out his schedule and called the first person and of course it was me! so i went up to the table....he swore me in, and took note of my name and then asked me to state my name for the record....he asked me if i reviewed the petition before signing it, yes.....was all the information correct, yes....have i used any credit cards prior to filing, no.....have i sold any assests and/or belongings prior to filing, yes just furniture.....when? 2009......are you actively suing anyone? no.....why are you filing bk, gave him my explination.....then he asked if i was surrendering the house, yes.....asked if any creditors were present to say so now (or something like that)...none were there so he stated that for the record and then wished me the best of luck......

    and that was it....

    what a relief....

soooo....i know the next step is that financial course thingy ......how long do i have for that?? is it 10 days or 30 or 60????

also, i was expecting to be asked for more paperwork.....should i be expected it??? or is it really this easy to just do the next course and then wait for discharge???

Congrat's on making it this far. The rest is just a waiting game with the exception of the pre-discharge course.

I don't know what the time frame is for it. I had mind done prior to the 341 and made sure the trustee had it at the 341. However, my recommendation is do it now! Don't wait. As soon as you get it done, get it to the court. This will prevent you from getting discharged if you don't. Again, once this is done it's just a waiting game.

My understanding is 45 days was expected. Do it asap and get it behind you. You can do this online for about 35 bucks for one or two. It will take an hour or so and is not bad. In fact, we learned and enjoyed ours. It is 'a piece of cake'. So go for it. Grats and wait it out. Your hamsters are ready. 'Hub
