    means test??

ok I have a ? in the means test do they use your gross income or what u actually take home. I printed out my means test using pacer and they used gross from our 2005 tax. I thought the means test used your 6 month income prior to filing. I no longer work and husband took a paycut so it is totally differ than last year. any idea?

It's supposed to be the last 6 months of actual earned income prior to your filing date. Then that number gets doubled to determine your annual gross to compare to the Annual Median Income Chart. That's gross.

Then they start deducting allowable expenses. Cell phone, internet, auto ownership and operation costs, any priority payments. Also, any payroll deductions you have such as insurances, retirement savings/401K contributions. Until you get to the your actual disposable income at the end.
