Will banks and mortgage lenders work with you?

Have filed ch7 and waiting on 341. Am keeping home and car. Have been told by attny that now is the time to modify either loan if i can get them to lower payments or interest rates. As neither wants the property back, they may be willing to work it out. What are the ups and downs of this?

As long as they don't forgive any debt there is no downside.
