    Question about Phone/Cable Bills?

So what happens when I file with these bills. I know I have to pay them but what if you are a little late on paying them? Will they turn my services off? Do they shut down your online access like most mortgage co?

    Thanks

Are you listing them as creditors? If you don't want to write off any balance...if you're really not behind, I don't think they are listed as creditors...please correct me if I'm wrong...

No I will not be listing them as creditors. I always pay before the next bill is due so I'm always kind of late paying them.

They they won't know! (or care...as long as you pay them)

I'm not (really) late with utilities and they're not getting listed.

If you're not listing them, I don't think they will even know you filed. It should be business as usual with them.

The above posts are correct, if you dont list them on your forms as creditors, just pay as normal and they wont do anything.

Yes if you get too far behind on them they will shut you off. You do have to still pay them the automatic stay does not include them. (I asked my lawyer about that and he stated what I just said to you)

Now if you include them in the bk then you will have to probably get them discharged but you will have to pay a pretty hefty deposit to them so it is better to just keep paying them as normal.

I did not list my utilities because i know here in ct. they will charge a large deposit, sometimes the deposit is larger then the bill.

Hey Freddie. If you are only a bit behind, and you intend to hang on, they will cut you some slack of a month or so. Since you intend to keep these as "utilities" as any utility, you must stay as current as possible. Your Cable TV is not as important as your Internet of course. Welllll how could we talk to you without it? TV is mostly BS and the premium channels you DO NOT NEED. YOU ARE BK, remember? Perhaps even an antenna?

                  Thanks everyone!

I came home today to find a letter from the accounting dept from my attorney stating if I don't pay the remaining balance I owe him in 5 days they will issue me a refund (minus $250 accounting fee) and discontinue our relationship!! Geez what a rip!! I retained them in October and have been paying what I can. They will be paid in full on the 22nd. They aren't even doing anything for me now. I have half the nerve to tell them to take their $250 and give me my money back - I'll take my business else where.

Thanks! I did cut our cable down some. I'm never late to the point of them threatening shut off. I was just wondering if I even had to list them in the BK.

And if I'd lose internet at home I'd still be here asking a million questions (from work)...LOL

geesh....one would think they would understand you are filing BANKRUPTCY and don't have lots of spare cash laying around! If you've been making payments toward your filing, they are really out of line, IMHO.

My lawyer told me to take my time, he have had people to take almost a year to pay him. He just wanted the payments to be regular even if they were small payments. He understand that people money is more tight then ever.

I wont say who my lawyer is going to be (havent officially retained yet), but they are going to take 1/2 before filing and then the rest with post dated checks and this is with a CH7! And I saw three for consultations and these guys knew their stuff way better!
