I'm getting nervous.....

We met with our atty over 3 weeks ago an turned in our paperwork 2 weeks ago. We are just waiting on him to review our paperwork to file. We have stopped paying all CC's and secured debts we aren't keeping in Feb. Our income is still below the means but I was really anxious about filing sooner than later. I just want to get it over with. Has anyone else had an atty that made them wait to file? I guess waiting another week won't hurt, I'm just ready to feel a weight lifted

I hope this helps, my attorney also made me wait. He would not file, until I spent down money in my checking account and received my tax refund.
I too just wanted it filed and done with. I told him I did not care about the refund or the excess money, the trustee could just take it. However, he gave my a very angry face when I told him this. He said he was going to do what was best for me, not my creditors and used some other language that I will not repeat. I think it is okay, maybe your attorney is just waiting for a reason.

Deep breaths . . . deep breaths . . .

We were forced to wait nearly two YEARS to file for a variety of reasons. And we had to SPEND in excess of 50k on legitimate expenses during that period. If your attorney is advising you wait, then you wait. If you have concerns or questions, DO ask the attorney.

During our wait, we accumulated three judgments, but we were also advised by our attorney, my own research, and this forum, about how to avoid any action in those cases.

Remember, the attorney is on your side and should be able to explain the reasons for waiting. In our case it was to allow medical treatments to run the course, income to drop off the timeline, and household expenses to stabilize.
