    I just caught onto a new trick! Check this out...

    One of my creditors jas been doinf a credit check on me every year! and oddly enough, this account was charged off 3 years ago. is this a way for them to keep you scores low? Each hit on you report effects your score right?
    My credit scores:
    Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507

    Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)

    Yes, each affects it. I would dispute the information if I were you. I don't believe they have any real vested reason to hold a person down credit score wise. Perhaps they saw you as a risk.?
    Chapter 13 Filed 4/03/06 :blink: 341 Meeting Complete 5/11/06 :yes2:
    Plan Confirmation 6/16/06 :yahoo:
    Discharged: 1/5/2010 :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

      Doesn't count against your score unless you initiate it... the checks that you're probably looking at are the ones that credit card companies use to "pre-qualify" you for all of those credit card offers that you get in the mail.
      Filed Ch. 7 Pro-Se: 10/12/06
      341: 11/6/06 (went AMAZINGLY well!)
      Discharge: 1/12/07
      Closed:1/19/07

        No, the one I'm refering to is done by a COLLECTION AGENCY that has one of my accounts

          Well, if they're pulling your credit report such that it impacts your credit rating, you can sue them as they are doing something illegal.

            Collection agencies are the true scum suckers, who knows what they'll do and why, keep alert and challenge them as you see fit, learn your rights and how to deal with them, These are the bastards we need to fight, they skirt the fringes of the law and are vengeful, but they have little options other than harassment and causing problems, they are sub-human and don't care.

              You know they they work on commission, and if you pissed them off somehow , maybe they will try to hurt you, educate yourself, they are the low of the low and hide behind false names etc.

                One of the worst is Allied Interstate. A few years ago, I had a disputed phone bill for over $700 with AT&T. Allied Interstate told me the debt would be wiped out if I paid them approximately $500, so I charged it. AT&T then started sending me bills for the remainder of the debt, so I contacted the credit card company to dispute the charges, and I won the dispute. Now that I'm in BK, none of them are getting a damn dime, and I couldn't be happier about it. Never pay Allied Interstate anything; they are LIARS!

                    another comment about the scumbag collection agencies....they cannot haul you into court...they do not have the power to do that. They will threaten you with that action but that is all they can do. Their MO is to insult, intimidate, manipulate, etc., so you will break down and pay whatever they want. I work for the BBB in Tennessee and we are inundated with calls from consumers complaining about collection agencies. In Tennessee we have a board that oversees them. I know they straddle the fence and know the law - they just think you dont. Obviously they get a commission what they collect so they dont care who they call about your debt. I had a call a few days ago from a neighbor who got a call from a CA about his neighbor. The guy asked the CA how they got his number and he told he he was an idiot because they could access neighborhood information. I suggested the guy stay out of it. If the CA wants to talk to the debtor they need to find their own way of doing it. By the way they are not supposed to be contacting your neighbors to begin with....yet another violation.
