Pre-Approved Credit Cards sent to me right after filing CHP 7

I got 2 Pre-Approved Credit Cards sent to me right after filing for Chapter 7.
They both have an annual fee of $99 a year.

I need a credit card. Mainly just for the convenience
when buying gas or small purchases at stores.
I don't like using cash because I have been given the wrong
change many times. Plus I hate having to deal with change.

    I wouldn't mind paying $50 a year but not $99.
Are there other secured cards that have better rates? Thanks

CapOne has offered a lot of people on here a $19 annual fee that is waived for the first year. Go to their website and fill out the app and you'll know within minutes if you qualify.

Same here. One CC (orchard) approved us but in their ad they did not say anything about an annual fee until we got the card. They wanted $66/year so before activating i called and asked to have the fee removed. The guy compromised by offering a $33 fee the first year and then if all goes well they will waive it the next year. So call and negotiate before activating the card.

We also received a Cap one card with no annual fee.

        thanks . .

        >> CapOne has offered ....

One of the banks that I had a credit card with was Capital One.
Are they going to reject me because of my past with them?

DH had a card with them that was included in bk. He was sure they would deny him, but they approved within 60 seconds.

Ok. I can't figure out what "DH" stands for.

I have my 341 this Fri. Is it too early to apply for this Cap One card?

I would definitely wait to apply until after you've been discharged.

Definitely wait to get a card. You will get a ton of offers. Cap 1 is the best for no annual fee. If you want to go secured, Addison Avenue Credit Union has a nice secured Visa with no fees. A lot of people like Public Savings Bank secured also.
A fresh start is a beautiful thing. And I'm not an attorney, just opinionated!

No. Read my first post for the reasons.

Looks like Cap One raised their fee to $29 :

                      Don't forget about Hooters!
Only card I applied for after, had several others survive the BK. No fees and a nice limit.

What do you mean by that? You can still use some of the credit cards you defaulted on?

Didn't say I defaulted on those specific accounts.

In a nutshell, they are accounts I had forgotten about with zero balances. 5 total.
After discharge I pulled a CR and saw them listed open and in good standing. I went through my drawer and the cards were still in there not yet activated. I activated the 3 major CCs I wanted, and later added the Hooters MC.

Currently have small balances on 3 of them.

when i read this my first thought was the same as scorpion. why do you need a credit card if you could use a debit card the same way for those gas purchases or small items? unless you need the credit card for other reasons after bankruptcy like rebuilding credit.

                              >> need the credit card for other reasons after bankruptcy like rebuilding credit. Yes, that is one of the main reasons.

Keeping track of small purchases is harder to do with a debit card. With a credit card, you just have to pay
one bill everyone month for all the purchases made. Otherwise you have to make a note of when you make
a charge with your debit card and deduct from you checking balance, which is a pain.
