    Paying Creditors During Chapter 7

I have a quick question...I'm trying to open a checking account with a new bank, but was told that I was on the Telechex system for $111. The creditor was not listed in my chapter 7 so can I pay the creditor to clear my name from the telecex system. My 341 is next month, but I need a new checking account to pay bills, etc.

    Thanks

Do you have a Woodforest Bank near you (they are in Walmart stores); they offer second chance checking accounts and I think they are a very good bank - fair fees, etc. Do a search of them on this forum - others have posted about this bank. They will open an account even with derogatory info from chexsys.

I would not pay the $111 because once you are discharged, you can request Chex remove the damaging info from their reports. I would amend your schedule and include this debt in your BK. In the meantime you can use money orders to pay bills - it's just being inconvenienced for a short time.

Cots me $26 to add a new creditor to my BK once I realized they had been left off the matrix. If your attorney charges to make the change, might be cheaper to just pay it than the $26 court cost plus lawyer fees.

If you filed a Chapter 7, you should have listed ALL of your creditors, with no exceptions, thus not having any creditors like this. If you were going to pay them, you really should have done it before you filed.
