Do you sign (endorse) tax refund checks before sending to trustee?

Hi there,
My chap 7 was discharged early this month. Sent copies of my 2010 tax return to the trustee, and I just got the state and federal refund checks.
Do I endorse the back of the checks before mailing them to the trustee?

I am crossing my fingers that I get at least some of the money back. My lawyer said the trustee may keep up to 85% since I filed for BK in November 2010.
But I have a friend who got her whole refund ($3,000) back from her trustee.

No.

Do not endorse the check. Send it to the Trustee as is. The Trustee has the authority to negotiate the check. Keep a copy for your records.

If in doubt, you should contact the Trustee's office. Most, not all, Trustees request that you do NOT endorse the check.

Our Trustee figured out the prorated amount of the tax refund and sent us a letter telling us how much to send him. I just sent a personal check for the amount specified.
