IBroke, I totally agree with you about not wasting time doing nothing. I need to be proactive in rebuilding my credit because I know it's not going to improve if I do not push it along. I hate to say it, but I honestly do not trust myself with credit cards so maybe getting a secured one is in my best interest because then I cannot abuse it. This is my second BK and I have vowed to never use and/or abuse credit cards again. Granted, the last time the credit cards were used for survival expenses due to significant other losing his job but still the thought of credit card debt scares the daylights out of me.

The financial advisor I saw did recommend that I get a secured card after the bk. And, in a way, that makes sense. It is your own money you are spending, not the cc's, while you are building credit.
This forum has been so helpful to me and others. I realize now that I should have filed bk about 10 years ago, but never even thought of it. Sadly enough, I was still paying on some of those cc's by the time I finally decided to file. And I only filed because I lost my job and could no longer afford the house and home loan payments. In those 10 years I manged to get the credit cards down to between 1-2000 each (4 cc's, most 1000 or so, only 1 at 2000). You can imagine how much interest I was paying! The balances went down VERY slowly. When I finally quit paying, with the added fees and interest rate hikes, they were sky-rocketing almost to the point they were all those years ago.

well duh. like I said I am not getting into credit card debt again. I intend to stay away from them. The credit card companies are evil and they are only out to profit for themselves.
