When should I apply for new credit? 341 meeting is complete...

    Hi All,
This is the best form site out there; I just wanted to get everyones take on when I should apply for credit; and what cards to get, and what should I look for?
My equifax; report as of this morning all show "included in bankruptcy"?? 341 was just yesterday?? can this be true?
The other 2 show "chapter 7" and "chapter 7 petition"
Thanks all the help is very useful,

6 months after your discharge. and if you apply for too many cards that has the effect of keeping your score low if you have many new cards.

No, but everything I have read is I should have at least one with a low limit and pay it all back to rebuild.

the whole credit thing sucks and we would opt out of the system if we could. we always paid cash for everything anyway with the exception of our mortgages, which is why we are here.

we received a ton of CC applications after we filed mainly from Cap one (i see the add on this thread right now as a matter of fact) and Orchard was the other. we wanted to build our credit back up for the purposes of cheaper insurance and the use of a CC instead of our debit card for on line purchase protection. this is what we did, sorted through the mail and kept the ones that did not have an annual fee, applied for two of them about 6 months after our 341 meeting and before we were discharged. both were approved for low limits (300 and 500). we probably spend maybe 100.00 a month on each of them for some arbitrary purchase and then pay them off.

one thing interesting about this process that i have not been able to figure out is how the CC companies determine the credit limit. two female friends of mine received high credit limits on their first application (one for 2K and one for 3K). one is a stay at home mom (homemaker was chosen as profession in the application) and the other was self employed. a mail friend of mine applied and received a 500.00 limit.
