renting a new place while in the bankruptcy process

Has any one had to find a new place to live while in the bankruptcy process? how hard was it to get aproved for a place? I have not filed bk yet but will within the next few weeks, only problem is my house goes for auction 6/10/11 and according to my attorney I will brobably only have about 30days after the auction date to move (unless my house does not sell) and I know my bk will not be discharged in that time.

I'll just assume that there is already a judgment of foreclosure on the home and the only thing now is the sale. The bankruptcy may disrupt it a little depending on your State's laws. Des would know more about Arizona specific foreclosure and the affect of bankruptcy on a foreclosure sale that is already scheduled.

Anyhow, I was able to find a place with pre-foreclosure on 2 of my investment properties and a credit history that was full of defaults and 90+ day lates. What I did was... use Craigslist and find "owner/landlord" situations. The one that I did choose, in the end, asked me about my properties (since we were fellow landlords) and my situation. He just wanted to know and let me rent a large 2,700sqft home in a nice area and valued over $350K.

You will tend to find owner/landlords much more tolerant. However, you do need to be VIGILANT and do your due diligence. Make sure the home is not in foreclosure, and/or the owner is not in bankruptcy themselves. This is easily done in States where all information is "public" and readily searchable via the internet. I found two posted Craigslist properties that were "in foreclosure" and one landlord/owner didn't disclosed it until I pressured him.
