    Does this mean we're Done?

I just logged into PACER and read our Case Summary. Here's what it says:

    Filed: 11/23/2010
    Terminated: 03/08/2011
    Debtor discharged: 03/08/2011
    Joint debtor discharged: 03/08/2011
    Debtor disposition: Standard Discharge
    Joint debtor disposition: Standard Discharge
    Nature of debt: consumer
    Pending status: Case Closed

Does this mean we're done and dusted and the whole Ch. 7 is done?! I know there is a difference (not sure what it is exactly) between being 'Discharged' and 'Closed'. Does this mean that both events have occurred and we done except for getting a copy of all the paperwork?

hehehe....I already did. He's just as happy & excited as I am.

Now, on a more serious note. I guess there is some of final certificate or decree that we will need to keep? I've read how people get the 1099s from their discharged creditors 3years after they filed for the forgiven debt, so is this decree what we need to keep handy for proof that we are not liable for paying taxes on the forgiven debt? I wasn't sure how that whole thing worked.

You will get an official certificate of the discharge and close by snail mail from the courts. I got mine within 3-4 days of closing.
KEEP IT . locked up, safe, framed, anywhere you can get at it. I just got a 1099c for 1 credit card. My C1 business. So a little more paperwork for my 2010 taxes but not tooooo bad.

hopefully if you have little ones they didn't see you bouncin on the bed....you know as adults we can't give the kids ideas. heheheehe

Congratulations!!!!!!!! So happy for you! From what I understand, you should, as others said, get a hard copy of a certificate or ruling or something-or-other. Keep it safe and secure. Looks like you're done!

Yes ,your discharge papers will soon be in your hands. Mine took a week or so, but I found mine on pacer first. The relief is just so overwhelming isn't it. After everything was said and done I almost feel like it was to easy, but maybe all of my worrying and heartache paid off in the form of making sure everything went as smooth as it could. The whole time, right up to the discharge I just kept waiting for something to grab us and pull us back into the *ell we had been living in.

Hey Oregonpilot, I am getting ready to desert our home in May and move to Washington. This will be the final end to this part of our journey and I am really hoping the bank will hurry up and take this home back once it is vacant.

That will be the icing on the cake, and the end to this incredibly hard journey. Thanks for asking. My sister is in Washington and is taking on my family for a bit until we find a place to rent. Hopefully things work out for us where she lives, but if not we will be free to go where we want without any ties.

Hey, anyone want a beautiful overpriced home in Hawaii? We have a pool and mai tais on the lanai.

                    congrats!!!

and i agree with panda.....your papers will arrive soon...we got our discharge and order of no asset distribution in one envelope from the court.

don't concern yourself with the 1099's......just have your accountant fill out the 982's if you get them....and don't worry about it for now...you'll be fine.

We made it through the Tsunami just fine, but I feel so bad for Japan. Kona side ended up with one house floating and the water flowing through the bottom floor of the King Kam hotel and retaurants on Alii drive.

Glad to hear you all made it. Seriously though, I'd move to Hawaii if I thought I could find an engineering job that would pay good enough to where we could afford to live there.

But anyways, our good news of a discharge pales in comparison to the incomprehensible destruction in Japan.
