How long does it take to distribute assets so case can close ?

Our only asset was a car. It was auctioned 1/14/11. The creditors have until March 14 to file claims for it. It sold for more than all credit card debt, so some will be left for Trustee and mortgage companies.

We were discharged 1/6/11. How long does it usually take for the Trustee to distribute everything and finally close the case? There were only 3 CC companies and 2 mortgages in our filing

It took us about a year. See my signature for time frame.
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

It COULD and should be handled a lot quicker, but then the government is running the show. There is no incentive to be efficient. Sorry it took you so long. I can only hope for a shorter time frame. It would feel so much better after it closes, although I know the discharge is the most important. We are also in NE FL. Jax court
