Although we were there forever and saw some ugly things happen to people who were clearly trying to commit fraud, our part lasted about 10 minutes. The trustee was very kind, went through the normal questions about our schedules and "continued" us on paper until he gets our tax return in the mail. I couldn't exempt out about $1K of it, so he wants that part which I understood before. I'm trying to get a transcript faxed to me now. I think it all went okay as long as we get him the tax information, so I'm relieved! I was glad to be me after watching the ugly cases and seeing the debtors backstroke trying to cover their previous answers with additional fibs. There were no creditors present except for in two confusing cases involving multiple layers of LLCs and a pinch of fraud. The snow storm had caused cancellation of court last month, so two months worth of people were there. All in all, not too bad since I wasn't lying!

Congratulations! So awesome! Recall any of the 'fibs' or what was going on with some of these other cases? Even though I know that would not be me, if I were sitting there and heard that before I went up, I'd be shaking in my boots. Thinking, "Did I, or my attorney, do ANY of this wrong?!" Heart would have been pounding.Decided on Chapter 7: October 13, 2010; Retained Attorney: October 20, 2010; Filed Chapter 7: February 4, 2011; 341 Meeting: March 23, 2011; Discharged: May 24, 2011

pikaroth--it was mostly outright fraud. One person had apparently promised some equipment as collateral on loans to several different parties who had lawyers present. That same person also admitted that he decided to file one month and had transferred property the next month and made a huge, extravagant new vehicle purchase after he filed somehow. One person lied about gifts and said he hadn't given or received anything, but the ex-wife was present and had told them that he had purchased and given a huge engagement ring to his new fiancee. He tried to dig himself out of the hole by saying that he didn't buy it, his mom did...so the wise lawyer said "so you not only gave a gift of value, you also received that same gift from someone else?". Very amusing! The layers of LLCs were too confusing for me to figure out, but it sounding all wrong...the trustee seemed to think so, too. I was worried about my expenses and the explaining the valuation of my assets, but the trustee didn't ask anything about that. The normal BK filers were in and out with no problems, so that made me feel better.Filed 1/31/11 341 3/2/11 Waiting for discharge........
