    Car loan during Chap 7?

    Hello all,

I have a question I was hoping someone could answer for me as a search didn't turn up anything that I was looking for. I filed for Chapter 7 after being stupid when I was younger. So now that I have filed, I had my 341 meeting a month ago tomorrow. The question I was wondering is that my vehicle is on its last leg, and I have a 24 mile drive to work each morning, and im worried the truck is gonna break down here shortly. Is it safe to apply for a loan (I already have had some lenders contact me) or do I need to wait for my discharge? I don't want to do anything to get myself in trouble. I know during a Chapter 13 case you need to clear it with the trustee but does that also apply to chapter 7 cases as well? If im misinformed about that.please clarify. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Yes if you can't wait until discharge then you have to get permission from the court which takes about 30 days which would be ridiculous since in another 30 you will be really close to discharge. You can go get pre-approved with a lender but can't pull the trigger until discharge.

    Good luck

So there would be no harm no foul if I were to get approved through, say, a capital one blank check as long as I don't use the check until after my discharge?
