Chapter 7 and Auto Leaee with cosigner Question.

Hey all,

I am in the early stages and doing some research on filing for C7. I have a particular issue i would like to get a better understanding on. I currently have an auto loan that i will be discharging, I am the only one on the financing.

I also have a lease on a car that i will not be discharging, however this lease is under me and a cosigner.

Will filing for Chapter 7, and not discharging the auto lease with a cosigner have any affect on the cosigner? If im ot discharging it should not affect me or the cosigner am i correct in my thinking that. I am in Florida.

I have a slightly different situation -- the co-signer filed -- the original borrower did not. Now 6 days from discharge and the original borrowers credit has not been impacted even slightly.

Not quite what your asking - but it gives you hope that the other way around would be the same too. Good Luck!

Hi Camador,

You assume the lease in the BK, should be no impact on the co-signer.

....assuming of course you continue to make the payments
