    New debt after filing

My in-laws filed for bk, 341 is not complete. Their oil ran dry, so I paid for a full tank but the new furnace didn't fire. The company obviously didn't have a riello trained technician because they just billed them $2200 to get it running. The furnace is on its second season.

Is it possible to add this to the filing? I am so furious they are taking advantage.

How do they deal with this?

Edited because it was poor advice. Sorry!

Sorry, but since the parents have filed, this is new debt and they are responsible for it. And I agree that they are being taken advantage of. Now, if this had been part of a follow-up to a problem with the furnace that had occurred BEFORE they filed, but not yet corrected, then there may be some 'wriggle-room'. But as it looks right now, they're stuck.

Still, it would not hurt for them to talk with their lawyer.

Sorry for the folks sal425, the BK option is off the table the date they filed.

Mass. has a reputation for strong consumer protection laws, any state commision/agency they can go to for help?
